Dayton, OH Ductless Air Conditioning
While portable air conditioners certainly are useful in certain circumstances, they simply cannot contend with the power and comprehensiveness of a whole house central air unit. But many homeowners are concerned about the energy efficiency of such devices, especially given the seemingly every–rising cost of electricity. While the HVAC industry continues to adapt technology to suit the efficiency requirements of its consumer base, you may also want to look at a different type of cooling entirely. Ductless air conditioning is a great way to ensure that your home is comfortable throughout the summer months.
We offer exceptional ductless air conditioning services throughout the greater Dayton, Ohio area, including installation, replacement, repair and maintenance services. Ductless AC’s, also known as ductless mini splits, offer a versatile, highly efficient cooling experience for the entire home. We’d be happy to speak with you in person about how this technology works and how it can be usefully integrated into your home, whatever size or shape it may be. Our staff of certified and experienced technicians can make sure that your new system is appropriately sized or that your existing ductless heating and cooling system is routinely maintained or repaired as need be. Call now to schedule service with Home Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc..

How a Ductless Mini Split System Works
As its name suggests, a ductless mini split does not require the use of ducts. Because ductwork is so ubiquitous in cooling, this may cause some confusion. A typical central air unit uses a large indoor air handler that pulls in your warm indoor air and passes it through the cooling coils, where it is returned to your home through ductwork. Ductless cooling systems use the same refrigerant cycle that all air conditioners and refrigeration equipment use, but in a different way.
Instead of ductwork connected to an air handler, multiple compact indoor air handlers are installed directly within the living space, either hung from the wall or suspended from the ceiling. These compact units can be individually controlled by their own thermostats or linked as part of a larger zone system with a master thermostat.
The Benefits of Ductless Cooling
Of the various benefits that ductless cooling systems have to offer, few are as compelling as the amount of energy savings that these systems make available to homeowners. Even well–sealed and properly maintained ductwork loses energy as it transmits cooled air throughout the home, particularly when your ducts pass through unoccupied spaces that are not cooled such as the attic or between the walls. Avoiding ductwork is also beneficial for reasons of indoor air quality.
But there is another benefit to be had from ductless air conditioning: a more flexible and versatile cooling experience for the entire family. This type of system quickly dispels arguments about temperature as it allows you to customize the temperature of each area quickly and easily to its occupant’s preferences, whether it’s the master bedroom or the downstairs kitchen.
